Astoria Man Arrested For Grand Larceny

PRESS RELEASE

On December 14, 2015, the New York State Police in Ellenville arrested Chris Halastras, age 48, of Astoria for Grand Larceny 3rd and Falsifying Business Records 1^st both felonies.

The New York State Police along with the New York State Department of Labor conducted an investigation into Halastras who made false statements to the New York State Department of Labor and collected over $10,000.00 in unemployment benefits illegally. 

Halastras was arraigned in the Village of Ellenville Court before Village Justice Levine who remanded him to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $5,000.00 cash or $10,000.00 secured bond to return in the Village of Ellenville Court on January 26, 2015, at 5:00 pm.
