Rhinebeck woman arrested subsequent to joint investigation with NYS Insurance Fund

PRESS RELEASE

Rhinebeck, New York – On November 17, 2015, the New York State Police in Rhinebeck arrested 61-year-old Viola Stanton of Rhinebeck, New York, for Insurance Fraud 2nd Degree, a Class C Felony, Grand larceny 2nd Degree, a Class C Felony, Falsify Business Records 1st Degree, a Class E Felony, and Workers Compensation Fraudulent Practices, also a Class C Felony.

Stanton was arrested subsequent to a joint investigation conducted by the New York State Insurance Fund, and the New York State Police.  It is alleged that Stanton unlawfully collected over $146,000 worth of NY State disability benefits between August of 2010 and November of 2015 while she was gainfully employed.

Stanton was arraigned before the Town of Rhinebeck Justice Court and released on her own recognizance.  She is due to reappear before the Town of Rhinebeck Court at a later date.
