Southeast Man Charged With Rape

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Town of Southeast man on a charge of rape.

On November 11, 2015 at 6:50 a.m., Criminal Investigators from the Sheriff’s Department Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) arrested Ronaldo Araely Lopez-Miguel, 20, of 785 Route 22 in the Town of Southeast and charged him with Rape in the Second Degree, a felony; Unlawful Imprisonment in the Second Degree, a misdemeanor; and with Endangering the Welfare of a Minor, a misdemeanor. Lopez-Miguel’s arrest was the result of an investigation that was initiated on November 9, 2015 when the father of a 13 year old female resident of Putnam County reported that his daughter was involved in a sexual relationship with Lopez-Miguel. Lopez-Miguel was arraigned by Town of Southeast Justice Richard Vercollone and committed to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000.00 cash or bond. A detainer was placed on Lopez-Miguel by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement after the man was identified as an illegal alien. If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, the defendants could each face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00.
