Poughkeepsie Man Arrested For DWI While Having a 2 Year Old Child in Car

 

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Obed G. Mata (24 yoa) of Poughkeepsie on Main Street in the Town of Poughkeepsie in the early morning hours of November 8, 2015.

At approximately 4:03am a deputy sheriff on STOP-DWI patrol observed Obed Mata operating a 2006 Toyota on Main St and stopped him for committing a traffic infraction. Subsequent investigation revealed that he was intoxicated and he was arrested for DWI. At the time he was stopped Mata had a 2 year old child as a passenger in the car with him.

Obed Mata was charged with DWI & Aggravated DWI (BAC .18% or more) both misdemeanors as well as Aggravated DWI (Child in car/Leandra’s Law) a felony for operating a motor vehicle while being intoxicated and having a passenger less than 16 years of age in the vehicle at the time, and other traffic infractions. He was later arraigned in the City of Poughkeepsie Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail to appear in the Town of Poughkeepsie Court on Monday November 9, 2015 at 4:00pm.
