Peekskill woman arrested following department of labor investigation

White Plains, New York – On October 23, 2015, New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Hawthorne barracks arrested Maria Newsome, age 39, of Peekskill, New York, for Offering a False Instrument for Filing 1st Degree, a Class E Felony.
The arrest stems from a complaint received by the New York State Department of Labor Special Investigation Division. The complaint purported that Newsome unlawfully collected unemployment insurance benefits between November of 2012 and November of 2013 while she was gainfully employed.
The defendant was issued an Appearance Ticket ordering her to appear before the City of White Plains Court on November 19, 2015.
