Connecticut Man Charged With Petit Larceny

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Connecticut man on a charge of petit larceny.

On October 17, 2015 at approximately 10:33 a.m., Deputy Sheriff Andrew Kristan responded to a report of a shoplifter in custody at the Home Depot store located at 80 Independent Way in the Town of Southeast. The deputy determined that Andrew M. DePalma, 27, of 3 Spruce Trail, Danbury, Connecticut had attempted to steal merchandise from the store and had been detained by store loss prevention personnel. The deputy arrested Mr. DePalma and charged him with Petit Larceny, a misdemeanor. The defendant was arraigned in the Town of Carmel Justice Court and committed to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $500.00 cash bail or bond pending a future appearance in the Town of Southeast Justice Court to answer the charge.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, the defendant faces up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00.
