County Clerk Kendall Encourages Veterans To Attend Upcoming VA Information Fair

 

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY… Dutchess County Clerk Bradford H. Kendall in conjunction with the Dutchess County Division of Veterans’ Services is pleased to offer the Return the FAVOR (Find and Assist a Veteran of Record) program at the upcoming VA Information Fair.  The exposition will be held on Saturday, October 17th, 2015 from 10 AM – 2 PM at the VA Hudson Valley Health Care Center Pine Plains Community Based Outpatient Clinic, 2881 Church Street, Pine Plains, New York.  The event is hosted by the Hudson Valley Health Care System.

 

Any honorably discharged veteran residing in Dutchess County may obtain their FAVOR card by bringing their Military Separation Papers i.e. DD-214, WDO-AGO 53-55 to the event.  Cards can be also obtained by visiting the county Veteran’s Services Office Mondaythrough Friday 9 AM – 4 PM at 85 Civic Center Plaza, Suite 105, Poughkeepsie then proceeding to the County Clerk’s Office, 22 Market Street, Poughkeepsie.  The program is county-wide, year round and there is no cost to sign-up.  Cardholders are eligible to receive a discount on purchases, services, or special offers provided by participating businesses.  A list of merchants and discounts offered can be found by visiting www.dutchessny.gov/countyclerk.   Applications for businesses and merchants interested in participating will be available at the event or by downloading the form off of the County Clerk’s website.

 

The event will also provide veterans with information and services geared toward their needs and interests including registration for VA Health Care, Women Veterans Program, Caregiver Program, and Returning Combat Veteran Service.  From flu shots to blood pressure checks, the event acts as a ‘one-stop shop”, bringing together invaluable resources for veterans and their families. Additionally, representatives from the Dutchess County Division of Veterans’ Services will be on hand providing information pertaining to services available by the county.

 

Kendall stated, “As County Clerk, I am honored to issue the Return the FAVOR cards to our Dutchess County Veterans.  It is a small token of our appreciation to the brave men and women who have made the greatest sacrifice defending our freedoms and liberties. I hope that many will come and learn about the many services and programs offered.”
