PRESS RELEASE

On October 8, 2015 the New York State Police – Bureau of Criminal Investigation at SP Kingston announced the arrest of SHAWN A. HYLTON age 27 of Kingston for Custodial Interference 2nd Degree and Criminal Contempt 2nd Degree both misdemeanors.

On October 8, 2015 he New York State Police responded to report of a possible non-custodial abduction at an elementary school in the Town of Saugerties. Responding patrols determined that SHAWN A. HYLTON had arrived at the school and signed for custody of his 8 year old son whom he has no custodial rights to. State Police investigators tracked HYLTON’s wherebouts to the Kingston Point Beach in the City of Kingston where, with the assistance of uniform State Troopers and City of Kingston Police Department members took custody of HYLTON. His 8 year old son was also at that location unharmed and was eventually returned to his mother. At the time of his arrest HYLTON was found to be in the company of a female for whom there is an active stay away order of protection ordering the HYLTON stay 300 feet away from the female.

HYLTON was charged with Custodial Interference 2nd Degree for taking his son from the school without the agreement of the childs mother and Criminal Contempt 2nd Degree for violating the order of protection. HYLTON was arraigned in the Town of Saugerties Court and released to appear at a future date.
