Wawarsing Woman Arrested For Multiple Burglaries In The Town Of Wawarsing

PRESS RELEASE

On October 8th, 2015, the members of the New York State Police, Troop F, at SP Ellenville, announce the arrest of a female for multiple burglaries in the Town of Wawarsing N.Y.

Arrested was Omaida Perez, age 35, of Wawarsing, New York who was charged with one count of Burglary 2nd, 2 counts of Attempted Burglary 2nd , Petit Larceny and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th.

The New York State Police conducted an investigation into a daytime burglary on State Route 55 in Napanoch in which Perez attempted to gain entry into an apartment while the home was occupied. Perez fled from the scene and was later apprehended in the area. It was learned that prior to the reported burglary that Perez had attempted to gain entry into another home located in Shady Acres Trailer Park in Napanoch. Perez did not obtain any proceeds from either of these attempts. After Perez fled from the burglary she went to a friend’s home where she became involved in an altercation with him and subsequently stole two prescription Oxycodone pills along with $80.00 in U.S. currency. During the investigation it was gleaned that Perez had also committed a burglary at a home in Napanoch back in July of this year in which she stole jewelry from the home and sold the proceeds at a local Pawn shop.

Omaida Perez was arrested and processed at SP Ellenville. She was arraigned in the Village of Ellenville Court before Village Justice Matthew Parker who remanded her to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $25,000.00 cash or $50,000.00 secured bond to reappear in the Town of Wawarsing Court on 10/09/15.
