After a 7 month long investigation the New York State Police at SP Montgomery announce the arrests Tyler S. Castro, 21 of Newburgh, NY, for Grand Larceny in the 3rd degree, a felony, and Scheme to Defraud in the 1st degree, also a felony, Daniela M. Rivera, 21, of Newburgh, NY, for Grand Larceny in the 4th degree, a felony, and Scheme to Defraud in the 1st degree, also a felony and Alexis M. Jabbour, 19, of New Windsor, NY, for Grand Larceny in the 3rd degree, a felony, and Scheme to Defraud in the 1st degree, also a felony.

All three were arrested following an investigation of local banks complaints, including the Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union and the Mid-Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union, that the three were involved in a scheme involving the opening of a new account at their bank and depositing starter checks into these accounts from other accounts they held which did not contain the funds to cover the checks or which were drawn from closed accounts. The three took advantage of these local banks policies by immediately withdrawing against these deposits and during the months of February 2015 and March 2015 were able to steal over $11,000 by use of this scheme.

Castro and Rivera were arraigned at the Town of Newburgh Court on June 12, 2015 by Town Judge Clarino. Castro was remanded to Orange County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash or bond to return at a later date and Rivera was released on her own recognizance to return at a later date. Jabbour was arraigned at the Town of Newburgh Court on September 19, 2015 before Town Judge Martini and remanded to Orange County Jail in lieu of $1000 cash/$2000 bond to return at a later date.
