Connecticut Man Charged With DWI

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Connecticut man on a charge of DWI.

On September 22, 2015 at 10:13 p.m., Deputy Sheriff Joseph Sadowski responded to a 911 report of a vehicle that had struck another vehicle on Nancy Lane in the Town of Southeast and had fled the scene westbound on Route 312. The deputy located the suspect vehicle on Route 312 in the vicinity of International Boulevard. The vehicle was severely damaged and was being operated at a very low rate of speed with one operational headlight. The deputy stopped the vehicle and determined that the driver, identified as John J. McConologue, 54, of 28 Anderson Street, Naugatuck, Connecticut was intoxicated. The deputy arrested Mr. McConologue and charged him Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after the man failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, the defendant faces up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00.
