Poughkeepsie man arrested following traffic stop

Beacon, New York – On September 23, 2015, New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Wappinger barracks arrested Michael L. Carden, 29 years old, of the City of Poughkeepsie, for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 1st Degree, and Driving While Intoxicated, all Class E Felonies.

On September 23, 2015, at about 12:52 p.m., Troopers stopped Carden on Route 52 in the City of Beacon for driving without wearing a seatbelt. Following an investigation conducted by the arresting officer, Carden was found to be intoxicated.

Carden’s was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st Degree when it was discovered that his license had 16 suspensions and that he had a prior Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs conviction from 2012.

Subsequent investigation revealed that the vehicle he was operating, a 2006 Hyundai, had been reported stolen in the City of Poughkeepsie.

Carden was arraigned before the Village of Wappinger Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond. His next court appearance was scheduled for the City of Beacon Court on September 25, 2015
at 9:00 a.m.
