Sunday September 20th, 2015 Wurtsboro Troopers stopped a 15 year old male from jumping off the Mamakating Road overpass.
Wurtsboro Troopers responded to a Sullivan County 911 call of a male sitting dangerously on the Mamakating Road overpass over ST-17 in the Town of Mamakating near exit 114. Upon Troopers arrival to location they observed a 15 year old male sitting precariously on the ledge of the overpass. Troopers approached the male and he threatened to jump because he was depressed and despondent. Troopers immediately started to talk to the male and calm him down. Troopers were able to intervene and take the male subject into custody without injury. The male was transported for Mental Health evaluation.
