Port Chester man charged with unlawfully collecting unemployment benefits

PRESS RELEASE

White Plains, New York – On September 17, 2015, New York State Police from the Hawthorne Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested Victor Michaca, age 34, of Port Chester, New York, for Offering a False Instrument for Filing 1st Degree, a Class E Felony.

The arrest stemmed from a complaint received from the New York State Department of Labor Special Investigation Division which indicated Michaca unlawfully collected over $27,000 worth of unemployment insurance benefits while he was gainfully employed.  An investigation revealed that Michaca made weekly certifications to the Department of Labor stating that he was unemployed while in fact he was gainfully employed.

The defendant is scheduled to appear in the City of White Plains Court on
October 2nd, 2015 at 9:00 a.m.
