MILLERTON, NY— On Friday, September 25 at 9:30 p.m., The Moviehouse, 48 Main Street, Millerton will co-host a special screening and community discussion in collaboration with The Watershed Center of THE YES MEN ARE REVOLTING.
After the screening guests are invited to join a conversation with representatives of the Watershed Center and Mike Bonano (Igor of the Yes Men) to discuss the practice and pageantry of the Yes Men’s activism and to explore creative ways of taking action to effect positive change.
The Yes Men combine political activism, performance art, and pranks to intervene in the “business as usual.” Their outrageous hoaxes – posing as business leaders or creating parody websites – reveal the absurdity and cruelty of corporate practices and political institutions. Their latest film, The Yes Men are Revolting, documents their new campaign to confront how big business contributes to widespread environmental disaster yet denies the existence of climate change. Shot over four years, the film chronicles their activism, their hijinks, and their encounters with ordinary people to deliver a hopeful message about how we can take our planet back.
