Albany man arrested following larceny complaint in Dover and Amenia burglary

Dover, New York – On September 15, 2015, New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Dover barracks arrested 29-year-old Daniel J. LaPorte, of Albany, New York, for Burglary 3rd Degree, a Class D Felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, a Class D Felony, and Petit Larceny, a Class A Misdemeanor.

On September 15, 2015, Troopers were dispatched to CVS Pharmacy for a reported larceny complaint.  An employee at CVS alleged that LaPorte hand entered the store and removed a cell phone from the display.  LaPorte then passed all points of sale failing to pay for the cell phone.  LaPorte was taken into custody and found to unlawfully possess a dagger.

Following a detailed investigation, it was discovered that LaPorte was responsible for a burglary that occurred in the Town of Amenia in September of 2015.

LaPorte was arraigned before the Town of Dover Court and remanded to the Duthcess County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $25,000 bond.  He is scheduled to return to the Town of Amenia Court on September 21, 2015.
