**UPDATE** State Police locate missing Ghent man

**UPDATE** – August 19, 2015

The New York State Police at Livingston located Mr.  Douglas Fithian at approximately 4:00 pm today.

He was last seen Monday, at approximately 9:00 am, in the vicinity of the Camphill Village assisted living complex.  After extensive interviews of family members, who arrived in New York State today,  additional target search areas were developed.

A ground search team was deployed and located Fithian in a densely wooded, overgrown area.  Although they were unable to see Mr. Fithian at first due to the density of the terrain, they were eventually able to  locate him and render first aid.

Chatham Rescue Squad and Ghent Fire Department responded to the scene and assisted the search team with extricating Mr. Fithian from the area by removing trees and brush to form a path.

Mr. Fithian is dehydrated, bruised and did suffer from lacerations caused by the brush. He was transported to Albany Medical Center by Chatham Rescue Squad.

Ghent, New York – New York State Police from the Livingston barracks are seeking the public’s assistance to help locate 82-year-old Douglas Fithian.

Mr. Fithian was last seen at the Camphill Village Assisted Living Center on August 17, 2015 at approximately at 9 am.  At approximately 1 pm, facility staff contacted the State Police and reported him missing after they discovered this GPS bracelet had been removed.

Fithian is described as a 5’9” white male, weighing approximately 142 pounds.  He was last seen wearing black jeans and a long sleeve plaid shirt.  It is reported that Fithian may suffer from the on-set of Dementia and may be in need of medication.

Fithian may have been picked up by an acquaintance and enroute to the Berkshire area.
