18 YEAR OLD DROWNS IN KENTWOOD LAKE

KENT – An 18-year-old Bronx teen died Monday afternoon in Kentwood Lake in Putnam County.

Kent Police received a call at 4:15 p.m. that a swimmer in the small lake off Farmers Mills Road near Snadbeck Road had gone under water 150 feet from shore and never surfaced.

Three members of the Kent Police Department responded to the call, along with members of the Putnam County Sheriff’s office and Lake Carmel and Kent Fire Departments.

Police searched for 20 minutes, before a dive team from the Mahopac Fire Department arrived and located the victim.

The victim — who was not named pending the notification of his family — was taken to Putnam Hospital Center where he was pronounced dead.
