Town of Hurley woman arrested for Grand Larceny

PRESS RELEASE


On August 12, 2015 the New York State Police – Bureau of Criminal Investigation SP Kingston arrested LYNN D. STOKES age 53 of Hurley, NY for illegally obtaining over $12,000.00 in unemployment benefits.

The New York State Police working in conjunction with the New York State Department of Labor – Investigation Section arrested STOKES for Grand Larceny 3rd Degree and Offering a False Instrument for Filing 1st Degree and Falsifying Business Records 1st Degree, all felonies. During the time period of August 23, 2010 through November 30, 2014 STOKES received $12,368.75 in unemployment benefits. It was later determined that STOKES was in fact employed during the time period in which she was receiving the benefits.

STOKES was arraigned in the Town of Hurley court on August 12, 2015. STOKES was released on her own recognizance and ordered to reappear in Town of Hurley Court at a later date.
