Town of Marbletown woman and City of Kingston man arrested for Grand Larceny 3rd

PRESS RELEASE

                        

On August 7, 2015 the New York State Police at Kingston report the arrest of TINA M. GRATIS age 37 of Marbletown, NY and BILLY DAVIS age 68 of Kingston, NY for Offering to File False Instrument in the first degree (E-Felony), one count of Falsifying Business Records in the first degree (E-Felony) and Grand Larceny in the third degree (D-Felony).

Between the dates of August 6, 2012 and April 7, 2013  GRATIS made false statements with the New York State Department of Labor to which she applied for and received unemployment benefits, indicating that she was completely unemployed and receiving a total amount of $7,224.75 during this time period. After an investigation was conducted on GRATIS, she was found to be gainfully employed with Stop and Shop convenience store in New Paltz, NY during that same time period.

Between the dates of September 3, 2012 and August 18, 2013 DAVIS made false statements with the New York State Department of Labor for which he applied for and received unemployment benefits, indicating that he was completely unemployed and receiving a total amount of $7,661.25 during this time period. After an investigation was conducted on DAVIS, he was found to be gainfully employed with First Student Management LLC located in Kingston, NY during that same time period.

Both GRATIS and DAVIS were subsequently arrested and charged with one count each of Offer to File False Instrument in the first degree, Falsifying Business Records in the first degree and Grand Larceny in the third degree. Both GRATIS and DAVIS were released on their own recognizance after arraignment in the Town of Ulster court and City of Kingston court respectively.
