Obituary, Mildred ‘Millie’ Butler

 

Red Hook – Mildred ‘Millie’ Butler, 81, a 40 year resident Red Hook, NY, passed away Wednesday, August 5th, 2015, at Vassar Brother’s Medical center, surrounded by her loving family.

Born and raised on March 31, 1934 in Dover Plains, NY, she was the daughter of Fred and Maude (Orton) Carr Sr.

On February 29th, 1972 in Hyde Park, NY, she married the love of her life Donald J. Butler. Mr. Butler survives at their home in Red Hook, NY.

A devoted and loving housewife, Millie enjoyed collecting snow globes and gnomes. She loved scrapbooking, cooking for her friends and family, gardening, crossword puzzles, country music, and dancing. Millie was also an avid member of the Red Hook Car Club for over 20 years.

In addition to her husband, Millie is survived by her daughter Sandra Chantry of Newton, PA; sons Randall Benson of Liverpool, NY, William Benson of Collinsville, CT, and Robert Benson of Red Hook, NY; stepchildren Hope Conlon of Hyannis, MA, Deborah Butler of Kingston, NY, and Paul Butler of Red Hook, NY; mother-in-law Mildred (Butler) Miller of Rhinebeck, NY; 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Fred Carr Jr., and a sister Emily McDonald.

Calling hours are Sunday August 9th, 2 to 4PM and 6 to 8PM. at  51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck. A prayer service will be offered at 8 PM following the calling hours.

Memorial donations in honor of Millie may be made to the Health Alliance Dialysis Center, 37 Albany Ave, Kingston, NY 12401.
