Obituary, Joseph R. Wasilik

 

 

Joseph R. Wasilik, 92, a resident of Pawling for 3 years, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at his home.

Born in Yonkers on January 29, 1923, he was the son of Onifur and Mary Slota Wasilik. Joseph proudly served our country in the US Army Air Force during World War II, and was a self-employed builder.  He was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church in Pawling, and a member of the Disabled American Veterans in Tennessee and the Elks Club in Brewster.

On May 21, 1944 at Christ the King Church in Yonkers, Joseph married Agnes Pocengal who survives at home. He is also survived by his daughter, Diane Keever of Pawling; his grandchildren, Melissa Ann Caldwell of Stamford, CT and Michael Kivel of Brewster; and his great grandchildren, Zachary Lockwood, Dylan Kivel, Samantha Kivel and Ryan Caldwell.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 5-7pm at the Horn & Thomes Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 10am at St. John the Evangelist Church, 39 East Main Street, Pawling.
