Wappinger woman arrested after entering Downstate Correctional Facility with warrant

PRESS RELEASE

Fishkill, New York – On July 29, 2015, New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Wappinger barracks arrested Amanda L. Murphy, 26 years old, of Wappingers Falls, New York, for Promoting Prison Contraband 2nd Degree, Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, all Class A Misdemeanors.

Troopers were dispatched to Downstate Correctional Facility for the report of a wanted subject at the prison. An investigation revealed that Murphy had an active arrest warrant for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree. Murphy was also found to be in possession of a hypodermic needle, which she had introduced into the facility. Murphy was taken into custody and transported to the Wappinger barracks where she was processed on the above charges.

The New York State Police were assisted by the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.

Murphy was arraigned at the Village of Fishkill Justice Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $400 bail. Her next appearance was scheduled for the Town of Fishkill Justice Court on August 19, 2015, at 9:00 a.m.
