Middletown man arrested for stealing benefits

PRESS RELEASE

The New York State Police at SP Wurtsboro announce the arrest of Wilbur J. Cross, age 41, of Middletown, NY for Grand Larceny 3rd and Falsifying Business Records 1st, both felonies.

The arrest was the culmination of an investigation conducted by the state police and the Investigations Section of the New York State Department of Labor wherein it is alleged that Gross repeatedly falsified the business records of the New York State Department of Labor in an effort to receive unemployment benefits that he was not entitled to receive.  It is alleged that Gross, through these actions, did fraudulently receive in excess of $3,000.00 in unemployment benefits.

Gross was arraigned before Town of Mamakating Town Justice Cynthia Dolan and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail on $2,500.00 cash bail.  Gross is scheduled to appear in the Town of Mamakating Town Court on July 28th at 9:00am.
