State Police investigate fatal crash on the Taconic State Parkway

LaGrange, New York – On July 16, 2015 at approximately 9:50 p.m., New York State Police from the Poughkeepsie barracks responded to a one-car collision that occurred on the Taconic State Parkway in the area of MacDonnell Road.

Investigation revealed that a 2016 Kia Sportage, operated by 57-year-old Nancy Sullivan, of Papua, New Guinea, was traveling northbound on the Taconic State Parkway. Preliminary investigation revealed that the Kia exited the roadway and struck a rock embankment.

Sullivan was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Dutchess County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Three children in the vehicle, ages 5, 8, and 10, also of New Guinea, were airlifted to Westchester Medical Center. Two of the children are listed in critical condition; the third is listed as stable.

A fifth passenger in the vehicle, 43-year-old Skudy Bangan, of New Guinea, was transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation and additional information may be released as it becomes available.
