Construction Work on Noxon Road in LaGrange
to Begin Next Week

Poughkeepsie…The Dutchess County Department of Public Works (DPW) has announced reconstruction work is expected to begin the week of July 13th to improve the safety, operation, and ride-ability of Noxon Road (CR 21), between New York State Route 55 and Titusville Road (CR 49) in the Town of LaGrange. Full construction work will include the improvement of roadway alignment, installation of new drainage, construction of 4 feet wide paved shoulders on both sides of Noxon Road, and reconfiguration of new turning lanes and the installation of new traffic signal equipment at the intersection of Noxon Road at Titusville Road. Noxon Road, between Route 55 and Titusville Road, averages approximately 11,000 vehicles per day.

Work has been underway on Noxon Road in preparation for this project, including tree clearing and utility pole resetting. As the project begins next week, significant delays should be expected and motorists are urged to seek alternate routes. Motorists are advised to drive slowly and exercise caution if travel cannot be avoided in this area, to ensure the safety of other motorists and workers.

Construction work will be completed in two stages and is expected to last approximately 16 months. During construction, one-lane of the road will remain open at all times. The first stage of construction will begin this summer and will continue into the fall, with 90% completion expected by the end of 2015. The second stage, which includes the reconstruction of the Noxon Road and Titusville Road intersection, is scheduled to begin in early 2016.
