SP Highland – Identity Theft Arrest

PRESS RELEASE

The New York State Police at Highland announce the arrest of Kimberll LaClaire, age 28, from Port Washington, NY, for the charges of Identity Theft in the First Degree (2 counts) and Grand Larceny in the Thirs Degree (2 counts).LaClaire’s twin sister contacted the State Police when she received information that LaClaire used her social security number to open up several accounts in her name.  Over the last year LaClaire opened up a Discover Card, Capitol One Card, Verizon account and a Geico account in her sister’s name.  LaClaire charged in excess of 12,000 dollars on the Capitol One and Discover Cards.State Police Investigators from Valley Stream Long Island picked up LaClaire when she met up with her probation officer yesterday afternoon.  She was transported to SP Highland where she arrested and processed.

LaClaire was arraigned in the Town of New Paltz by Town Justice Katz and sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of 10,000/20,000.  She is due to return to the Town of Esopus Court on July 6th, 2015 at 6pm.
