State Police investigate fatal car / pedestrian crash on the Sprain Brook Parkway

Yonkers, New York – On June 30, 2015 at approximately 11:50 p.m., New York State Police from the Hawthorne barracks responded to a car / pedestrian collision that occurred on the Sprain Brook Parkway in the City of Yonkers.
Investigation revealed that a 2005 Pontiac, operated by 30-year-old Terrell L. Smith, of White Plains, was traveling northbound on the Sprain Brook Parkway.  Smith observed a vehicle on the shoulder of the road that had been involved in a two-car property damage collision moments earlier. A passenger involved in the previous collision was standing in roadway and Smith was unable to avoid striking him.The pedestrian,  identified as Lorenzo J. Gallardo-Vligen, 19 years old, of the Town of Beekman, was transported to Jacobi Medical Center in Bronx, New York, where he was pronounced deceased.

Smith was also transported to Jacobi Medical Center where he was treated with non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation into the crash is on-going.
