Poughkeepsie man arrested following traffic stop

Wappinger, New York – On June 29, 2015, New York State Police from the Wappinger barracks arrested Nicholas R. Steriti, 18 years old, of the Town of Poughkeepsie, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree, a Class A-II Felony and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, a Violation.

Troopers stopped Steriti on All Angels Road in the Town of Wappinger for failing to maintain his lane of travel and for a loud exhaust. While Troopers interviewed Steriti, a marihuana smoking device was located in plain view. Further investigation revealed that Steriti was in possession of approximately 54 grams of mescaline, a hallucinogen.

Steriti was arraigned before the Village of Wappinger Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.  He will re-appear before the Wappinger Town Court on June 30, 2015.
