Massachusetts woman arrested for entering Greenhaven Correctional Facility with marihuana

PRESS RELEASE
Beekman, New York – On June 4, 2015, New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Poughkeepsie barracks arrested Shaquana L. Stewart, 22 years old, of Springfield, Massachusetts, for Promoting Prison Contraband 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of Marihuana, both Misdemeanors.

Troopers were contacted by the Greenhaven Correctional Facility to assist the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision with the arrest of a visitor who entered the facility with approximately 32 grams of Marihuana.  Stewart was taken into custody and transported to Troop K Headquarters where she was processed on the above charges.

The New York State Police were assisted by the NYS DOCCS Office of Special Investigations.

Stewart was arraigned in the Town of Beekman Court in front of Judge Robert Ferris who remanded her to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond.  Stewart was given a return date of June 11, 2015 at 6: 00 p.m.
