Two Cairo men arrested for burglary and other charges

On May 29, 2015, State Police in Catskill arrested JOHN R. PROPER, age 45, of Cairo, New York for 1 count of Burglary 3rd, a class D felony and RONALD JOHNSON, age 54, also of Cairo, New York for 1 count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th, a class A misdemeanor.

Investigation revealed that on May 23, 2015, PROPER, unlawfully entered a shed and stole a drill press, Craftsman toolbox and Lincoln Arc Welder. The shed was located next to a residence which was unoccupied at the time of the crime because the owner had recently passed away. PROPER then transported the stolen items to JOHNSON’s residence who agreed to hide them.

Both subjects were arraigned in Town of Cairo Court and committed to Greene County Jail. PROPER was remanded in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,500 bond and JOHNSON was remanded in lieu of $500 cash bail or $1,000 bond pending a future court appearances.
