Pawling man charged with aggravated DWI

 

Poughkeepsie…The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Michael J. Shapiro, age 33 of Pawling, for aggravated DWI at approximately 2:05 am on 5/31/15.

On the above date and time Deputies observed a vehicle traveling on Lakeside Dr in the Village of Pawling, at which time it was observed to cross over the center pavement markings. The vehicle was then stopped and the operator was identified as Mr. Shapiro. Through further interview and investigation it was determined that Mr. Shapiro had allegedly been operating the vehicle in an intoxicated condition, and he was taken into custody at the scene. At this time Mr. Shapiro has been charged with the following:

  1. Aggravated DWI – misdemeanor
  2. Unlicensed operation – traffic infraction
  3. Fail to keep right – traffic infraction

 

Aggravated DWI is charged when someone’s Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) found to be .18% or more, and in this case Mr. Shapiro’s alleged BAC met that threshold. After being processed Mr. Shapiro was released on appearance tickets, and is due to appear before the Village of Pawling Court on 6/11/15.

As with any criminal case, the charges described above are merely accusations and Mr. Shapiro is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
