Kinderhook, New York – On May 24, 2015, New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Livingston barracks arrested 16-year-old Daniel J. Repko, of Stuyvesant, New York, for Grand Larceny 3rd Degree, a Class D Felony.

Repko was reported missing to police on May 22, 2015 by the Berkshire Farm Center, located on State Route 22 in the Town of Canaan.  Throughout the weekend, Troopers searched the surrounding towns for Repko.   On May 24, 2015, a Trooper observed Repko riding a bicycle just south of the Village of Kinderhook. When Repko observed the patrol car, he dropped the bike before fleeing on foot into a wooded area.

Trooper Eric Buchinsky and his canine partner Cahill responded to the scene and successfully tracked Repko to a Sunnyside Road address. An investigation revealed that Repko had stolen a 2002 Ford Econoline van that was parked at the Sunnyside Road residence before fleeing from police.

Several hours later, Troopers located Repko operating the stolen van in the Town of Kinderhook. When the officer attempted to stop Repko, he tried to evaded police again by continuing northbound on State Route 9 into Rensselaer County, leading police on a 9 mile long pursuit.  The chase ended when Repko was taken into custody after he struck two police vehicles with the stolen van, causing minor damage to all three vehicles.

Repko was arraigned before the Village of Kinderhook Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $25,000 bond.

This incident remains under investigation and additional charges may be pending.
