Chatham, New York – On May 15, 2015, New York State Police from the New Lebanon barracks arrested Jason A. Powers, 47 years old, of Richmond, Massachusetts, for Criminal Contempt 2nd Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor.On May 14, 2015, Troopers interviewed a Chatham woman reporting an order of protection violation.  Following an investigation into the alleged incident, it was discovered that Powers had sent the victim several unwanted text messages, violating a valid court order of protection.The State Police were assisted by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.

Powers was arraigned before the Village of Chatham Justice Court and released on his own recognizance.  He is scheduled to re-appear in the village court on June 23, 2015.
