Memorial Day Events Help Dutchess County Residents
Remember True Meaning of Holiday
Poughkeepsie… Memorial Day is Monday, May 25th. Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro and Veterans’ Service Director Nelson Eddy Rivera, USN (Ret) ask Dutchess County residents to remember the sacrifices of veterans who have died in service to our country. Residents are encouraged to participate in the many Memorial Day ceremonies and parades taking place across the county to remember and honor those who have died to defend our freedom.
County Executive Molinaro said, “Memorial Day weekend gives Dutchess County residents and visitors many occasions to remember those brave men and women who sacrificed their lives to protect ours. I invite County residents to join me in celebrating those veterans’ lives this weekend – be it at a parade, a solemn remembrance ceremony or our special Illumination of the Walkway event on Sunday, May 24th or our Dutchess County War Memorial Ceremony on May 25th – and keep their memory alive.”
The Dutchess County Division of Veterans Services has reached out to local municipalities and community organizations and compiled a listing of ceremonies and parades happening over the Memorial Day holiday weekend. Full list follows below with contact information for further inquiries.

This weekend’s Memorial Day events afford us ample opportunity to reflect on the true meaning of the holiday: to honor those who have died for our country and ensure they’ll never be forgotten,” said Dutchess County Veterans Services’ Director Nelson Eddy Rivera, USN (Ret).
