Wappinger man arrested following vehicle pursuit

PRESS RELEASE
LaGrange, New York – On May 12, 2015, New York State Police from the Poughkeepsie barracks arrested 36-year-old Anthony L. Martinez, of Wappinger, New York, for Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree, Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree, Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and or alcohol, and other vehicle and traffic offenses.

Troopers stopped the vehicle Martinez was operating on Simone Drive following an erratic vehicle complaint broadcasted by Dutchess County 911.  As the Trooper approached the vehicle, Martinez accelerated away from the approaching officer, initiating a vehicle pursuit.

The pursuit ended when Martinez came to a stop on Walker Road.  He was taken into custody without any further incident.  Subsequent investigation revealed that Martinez was under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol at the time of the stop.

Martinez was arraigned before the Town of LaGrange Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.  He is scheduled to re-appear in the Town of LaGrange Court on May 19, 2015 at 5:00 p.m.
