Rotary Day of Service on May 18th to Benefit the Pawling Resource Center

By Susan Stone

The national Rotary Day of Service will take place on Saturday, May 18th, and Pawling’s Rotary Club will once again collect much-needed toiletries for the Pawling Resource Center. From 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., members of Pawling’s Rotary club will be stationed outside of CVS with lists of needed items that can be purchased within and then easily handed to the Rotary members staffing the collection table. Collected items will then be delivered to the PRC.

Rotarian, Kim Fontana, Day of Service event chair and Pawling Central School District Superintendent, has once again created partnerships for this project with students, teachers, and administrators throughout the school district. “The Pawling Resource Center is so important in the lives of Pawling students and families that it is never an effort to have school organizations support the PRC.  As chair of the Rotary Day of Service, all I had to do was reach out and six school organizations answered: Team Community (our youngest student leaders) at Pawling Elementary School, the LEAD Club and the National and National Junior Honor Societies at Pawling High School and Pawling Middle School, and the teachers’ and the administrators’ local unions.  All will be lending a hand tending collection bins in the three schools during April and May and will assist Rotarians on May 18 at our local CVS.  Rotary is grateful for the support of CVS manager Diane Vittadini for her cooperation,” she remarked.

According to Olga Brandenberger, Resource Center Executive Director, needed items include shampoo, baby wipes, deodorant, soap and body wash, toothpaste and toothbrushes, toilet paper, diapers, and feminine hygiene products.

The members of the Pawling Rotary Club are thrilled to welcome the entire Pawling school community as partners in this national day of service, benefiting our local organization that is so crucial to the well-being of Pawling’s children, families and seniors in need.
