MICHELLE RIVAS APPOINTED PERMANENT PRINCIPAL OF PAWLING ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

PAWLING, FEBRUARY 13, 2024 — Pawling Central School District is pleased to announce that Michelle Rivas, who has been serving as interim principal of Pawling Elementary School since September 2023, was appointed as permanent principal at the district’s Board of Education meeting on Monday, February 12.

Mrs. Rivas has been a dedicated leader in the Pawling Central School District for nearly 11 years, serving as assistant principal in both Pawling Elementary and Middle Schools. She has also served as coordinator of ENL and K-8 assessment as well as chair of the Health and Wellness Committee and is deeply involved in district professional development. With respect to her own learning, she has attended professional development through the New York State Council of School Superintendents, the Graduate School of Education at Harvard University, and the Leadership Institute of the Mid-Hudson.

Mrs. Rivas holds a bachelor’s degree from Marymount Manhattan, a master’s degree from Adelphi University and an administrative certificate from Long Island University. Before joining Pawling, she taught kindergarten and grades two and four as well as Spanish for 19 years.

Throughout her time with Pawling, she has been instrumental in supporting student academic, social and emotional growth as well as fostering a positive and collaborative culture among the staff and families. She is committed to providing the best possible education for the students of Pawling Elementary School and to serving the school community with excellence and integrity.
