Pawling Rotary Coat Drive…Warming the Community!

By Susan Stone

Rotary Coat Drive Chair, Paula Aguilar, spearheaded the collection 252 coats for the Pawling Resource Center. Rotary’s annual drive began on October 15th and concluded on November 30th. This year, collection box locations were expanded to several additional locales, which resulted in a record number of winter coats available for those in need within the community.  Boxes at Lathrop at Lakeside, the Pawling Library, M&T Bank and PCSB, as well as the Pawling Middle School, overflowed with coats of all sizes in excellent condition. Some donated coats were new and purchased specifically for this drive by members of  the Pawling Rotary Club.

Ms. Aguilar has been routinely bringing collected coats to the Pawling Resource Center where Olga Brandenberger, Executive Director of the PRC, her staff, and volunteers have been distributing to those in need of a little extra help keeping warm this winter. As of this writing,151 coats have been distributed and all remaining coats, in a wide variety of sizes, will be available for adoption throughout the winter during Resource Center regular business hours.

Coats for children, men and women may be accessed at the PRC Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.), and the second Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.
