Obituary, James ‘Jim’ C. Browne

How lucky were we to have known and loved James ‘Jim’ C. Browne of Dover Plains, NY. At 63 years young, he passed on August 8th, surrounded by his wife and children. Born in Mt. Kisco, NY, he was the cherished son of Rita and James Browne until their early passing. He was then cared for and loved by his grandmother Anna Butironi and aunt Jean B. Leifheit.

Jim met the love of his life, Marie, and for 40 years, they lived for, enjoyed, and shared a passion for music, delicious food, the love they gave to one another, their children, and anyone they welcomed into their home. Together they had five children and many additions along the way. He lives on through his loving children Valerie (Browne) Brunow and Sean Brunow, April Browne O’Neill and Andrew O’Neill, James Browne Jr. and Cassi (Ronan) Browne, Julianna Browne Escaravage and Sean Escaravage Jr., and Jason Browne and Kara Zalesny. As well as his grandchildren Sadie and Sloane Brunow and soon to be grandson Browne O’Neill.

He was a master plumber at Manhattanville College for over 20 years. He could and would fix anything for anyone. His love of listening to records, raising a glass, and the pride he took in his family are just a few of the many incredible memories we will cherish.

All are invited to a tribute in Jim’s honor on Wednesday, August 16th from 5-8 pm at Hufcut Funeral Home. 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 17th at 10 am at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 62 Mill St., Dover Plains followed by a celebration of life. Memorial contributions can be made to MSK Kids (www.mskcc.org/pediatrics) or Tunnel to Towers Foundation (t2t.org/donate).
