Wayne B. Murray, 76, a longtime resident of Amenia, NY, died on Monday, July 17, 2023, at Sharon Hospital in Sharon, CT. Mr. Murray was a self-employed and self-taught mechanical engineer and had worked for Skip Barber Racing in Lime Rock, CT, Contemporary Racing in Mamaroneck NY, Bear in Long Island City, NY and Troutbeck, Amenia NY. Wayne was a long-time member of the Smithfield Valley Association.
Born on March 26, 1947, in New York City, he was the son of the late Peter and Ethel (Smith) Murray. Mr. Murray proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
On September 8, 1979 in New York City, he married Karen Triebel who survives at home. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister, Carol Sarra of Sheldon, NY.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Peter and Raymond Murray.
There will be no calling hours. Graveside services and burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at the Smithfield Cemetery, 656 Smithfield Valley Rd. in Amenia, NY with Rev. Douglas Grandgeorge officiating.
