Obituary, Irene DiMasi

Irene DiMasi, a resident of Pawling, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on May 9, 2023, at the age of 79.

Born in Yonkers, NY on July 4, 1943, she was the daughter of the late John and Frances (Hickey) DiMasi.  Irene grew up in Mt. Vernon, NY and went to Our Lady of Victory School and Nicholas Junior High.

Irene worked at the Reader’s Digest in Hawthorn, NY as an executive secretary until she retired.

She enjoyed softball, bowling, volleyball, fishing, camping, and the beach.  She was a marathon runner, running in NYC many times and Boston. She was a professional gardener; “everything she touched turned to gold”.  She loved all animals and was especially fond of hummingbirds.   She was a proud member of the American Legion and a huge Yankees fan.  She was known by all as being Elvis Presley’s biggest fan, from the time she was 13 years old till the day she passed.  But most important to her was spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sister Jeanne DiMasi and brother Rocco DiMasi.

She is survived by her loving children, son Thomas Feola and wife Melissa of Poughkeepsie, NY, daughter Jacqueline Feola of Carmel, NY, son JoeWillie Feola and wife Dani of Lagrangeville, NY; her sister Marie DiCara and husband Richard and nephew Andrew of Florida; her beloved grandchildren, Michael Verbasco and wife Toniann, James, Tiffany, and Haley O’Connor, and Thomas, Taylor, and Danielle Feola; and great-grandchildren Giavanna, Luciana, and Francesca Verbasco.

Please join the family for a Celebration of Irene’s Life on July 29, 2023, at 10 AM at St. James the Apostle Church, Rte. 52, Carmel, NY, followed by a joyful reception.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, NY.
