On June 13, 2023, members of the New York State Police – Troop F Bureau of Criminal of Investigation (BCI) arrested Juwaugh Dawkins, age 31, of Jacksonville, Florida at the State Police Barracks in Highland.  The defendant was indicted on the charges of Murder 2^nd degree and three counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2^nd degree.  Juwaugh Dawkins is the brother of defendant Junando Dawkins who has also been arrested for the above charges for the same investigation. The indictment resulted from a homicide investigation into the January 1, 2023, shooting death of Daniel Spotards, age 41, from the town of Plattekill.  The defendant was brought back from the state of Florida to New York State by members of the New York State Police and lodged in the Ulster County Jail without bail. He will appear before the Ulster County Court.
