Obituary, Lorraine O’Hara

Lorraine O’Hara, a long-time resident of Millbrook, NY., passed away at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, February 23, 2023; she was 92.

Born in Leeds, NY on April 25, 1930, she was the daughter of the late James Barney Brandow and Agnes Whaley.  On September 18, 1966, she married F. Haines O’Hara, who predeceased her 15 years ago in 2008.  She is also predeceased by her first husband, Richard Murphy, Sr. who passed away in 1964.

She loved being with her family and was affectionately known as “Dinosaur” to her great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her two sons, George Murphy and wife Michele of Amenia and Teddy Murphy and wife Pearl; her daughter Sandra Brownell and husband James of Millbrook; her sister Rose Hennessey and husband James of Florida and brothers Stewart Brandow of New Jersey and Robert Brandow and wife Shirley, also of Florida; 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she is predeceased by her son Richard Murphy, Jr., her brother Teddy Brandow and sister Agnes Tink; and her two best friends, Yvonne “Pat” Lakin and Terry Igoe; the “3 Amigo Grandmothers are together again.”

There are no services at this time but will be at a future date.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Horn & Thomes, inc. Funeral Home, 83 East main Street, Pawling, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Memory of Lorraine may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
