Obituary, Larry Mortola

Larry Mortola, long-time resident of Pawling, passed away at the Grand at Pawling on Friday,  January 13, 2023 at the age of 90.
Born in Brewster, NY on December 20, 1932, he was the son of the late Joseph J. Mortola who passed away in 1955 and Mary (Carollo) Mortola who passed away in 1995.  Larry grew up in Patterson, NY and attended school there.  He later moved with his mother to Pawling and worked for the village sanitation department, where he lost his arm in an accident.
Larry could always be seen in the Village, asking everyone he met “Do you want to buy a horse?” or informing them “Your tires are flat.” His sense of humor was well known and shared often with his many Pawling friends.
He is survived by several cousins and friends.
Friends may pay their respects on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at the Horn & Thomes, Inc Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling from 9:30 to 10:30.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM at St. John’s Church, Pawling. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
