Illegal gun recovered with stolen vehicle

Southeast, New York – On September 17, 2022, the New York State Police from the Somers and Brewster barracks in conjunction with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office arrested the following subjects:

Josiah Eleby, age 19, of Waterbury, CT, for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd degree, a class C felony, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th degree, both class E felonies, Obstruction of Governmental Administration, and Resisting Arrest, both class A misdemeanors.

Ervin Barr, age 21, of Waterbury, for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 3rd degree, a class D felony, Obstruction of Governmental Administration, and Resisting Arrest, both class A misdemeanors.

Shadeed Turner, age 20, of Waterbury, CT, for Obstruction of Governmental Administration, and Resisting Arrest, both class A misdemeanors.

At approximately 9:35 a.m., Troopers attempted to stop a stolen 2016 Acura TL on Interstate 684 in the town of Bedford.  The operator failed to comply and led Troopers on a pursuit to Exit 9E for Interstate 84 where a stinger was deployed disabling the vehicle.  All occupants fled the vehicle and with the assistance of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and their Bloodhound all three suspects were taken into custody without further incident.  Eleby was found to be in illegal possession of a 9MM Glock 43 handgun.

Shadeed Turner was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the town of Southeast Court on October 4, 2022.

Ervin Barr and Josiah Eleby were both arraigned before the town of Southeast Court.  Barr was released on his own recognizance.  Eleby was remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.  Both are scheduled to reappear before the court on October 11, 2022.
