Poughkeepsie man arrested after short pursuit

Poughkeepsie, New York – On July 27, 2022, the New York State Police in conjunction with the town of Poughkeepsie and City of Poughkeepsie Police Departments arrested Gordon J. Smith, age 58, of Poughkeepsie, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th degree, a class D felony.
Investigation by the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department led to the development of illicit drug sales by Gordon Smith in the Poughkeepsie area. When members of the State Police and Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department attempted to stop Smith in a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe he failed to comply and led officers on a short pursuit.
With the help of the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department Smith was stopped and arrested on Montgomery Street in Poughkeepsie with a small amount of cocaine in his possession.
Smith was arraigned before the honorable Judge Volkman of the City of Poughkeepsie Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail. A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for August 2, 2022, at 11:00 a.m.
