State Police investigate fatal crash on State Route 22 in Patterson

Patterson, New York – On April 29, 2015 at approximately 3:55 p.m., New York State Police from the Brewster barracks responded to a two-car personal injury auto accident that occurred on State Route 22, just north of State Route 311.

A 2003 GMC pick-up truck, operated by Christopher C. Osborne, Jr., age 42, of Pawling, New York, was traveling northbound on State Route 22. A 2015 Subaru Forester, operated by Mario L. Riccobon, age 65, of Carmel, New York, was traveling southbound on State Route 22. Investigation revealed that Osborne crossed over the double yellow lines into the southbound land and struck the Subaru head-on.

A passenger in the Subaru Forester, 63-year-old Jean Riccobon, of Carmel, was pronounced dead at the scene by Transcare. Mr. Riccobon was transported to Danbury Hospital with injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening.

Troopers were assisted by the Patterson Fire Department, Transcare EMS, and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.

The New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit reconstructed the crash, closing Route 22 for several hours.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation and additional information will be released on the New York State Police Newsroom as it becomes available.
