Stuff the Bus Filled the Shelves!

The Stuff the Bus annual event, a partnership of the Pawling Rotary Club, the Pawling Resource Center, Hannaford’s, and the Pawling Central School District, to benefit the food bank at the PRC, was a grand success.  Between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 23rd, the Pawling community generously donated more than 1200 pounds of food, cleaning supplies and paper goods to the PRC. Olga Brandenberger, PRC Executive Director, shared “I was in awe seeing the Pawling community come together to Stuff the Bus for the PRC food pantry.  Everyone from children to seniors all contribute. Together we are stronger and can do so much to help those struggling with food insecurity. Thank you, Pawling friends!”

Rotarians Kim Fontana, Scott Shafer and wife Dorothea, Earl Crawford, Jennifer Taylor, former Rotary president Stephanie Mclaughlin with daughter Rebecca, current Rotary president Susan Stone, as well as Gail Orser, former interim PRC executive director, were on hand to assist in this effort.  Ms. Brandenberger and program coordinator Brandon Dobraj were also there to aid in the stuffing and unloading.  Bus drivers Cecil Franco (with his charming helpers, children Noah and Bella) and Pam Serafini were there to organize, pack, and stack donations and then drive the yellow school bus back to the PRC at 126 East Main Street, where all was unloaded. Volunteer unloaders included PRC board members Miguel Calle, Halliday Clark, Pawling Library director Brian Avery, Emily Kaprinski, Isabella DelBiondo, and Rotarian Edith Flood with her grandson Scott Alden and his friend Christopher Scuccimarra. All braved the scorching heat to bring this community-wide event to successful completion.

Additional helpers Courtney Cole and her children Jamieson and Ellie, and Bob Stoever loaded items onto the shelves. Stuff the Bus is a service project that provides much-needed supplies to the Pawling Resource Center food bank at a time during the year when resources are scarce.
