Knife pulled during fight over gas pump line

Wappinger, New York – On July 27, 2022, the New York State Police from the Wappinger barracks arrested Sydney E. Heidt, age 23, of Wappinger, for Menacing in the 2nd degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th degree, both class A misdemeanors.

At approximately 2:00 p.m., Troopers were dispatched to the Gulf gas station on State Route 9 in Wappinger by Dutchess County 911 for a report of a fight in progress with a knife.  Responding Troopers took control of the situation and disarmed the suspect with the knife.  Investigation determined the altercation started over a person allegedly cutting the line at the gasoline pump.  During the incident Heidt brandished and menaced the victim with a knife.

Heidt was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the town of Wappinger Court on August 11, 2022, at 5:30 p.m.
